Chapter 3: The sin of simplicity [part 1]

Miriallia erred and erred for days in Ueno, slaying monsters of her own alignment for the hell of it. Her eyes were redder than usual as she thought about her partner. Could she replace him just for the fight with Kamren? No...of course not. That would feel like the worst type of treason. How could I even think of doing that?
'What the hell is wrong with you? Why are you sympathizing with them?', my mind yelled.
Shut up, thoughts. I won't be guided by you any longer, look what you've done. You've murdered Oku. I could have saved him. You could have saved him, you're equally as guilty. Guilt. We're accomplices now. Accomplices. I murdered him myself. I could have saved him. I could have saved him... You could have saved him, look what you've done. What I've...done...? Murderer. I have to get stronger to undo this.
Murder... The demon-buster raised her eyes to the night sky and put her hands before her. Rain trickled down slowly from the skies as if Mother Gaia was angry with her. The droplets fell loudly against her clothes and skin. Each droplet attempting to get under her skin and scar her. 'Is this the weight of the world you wish to put on me, Mother?' the young woman asked quietly. The only answer that came was a sudden roaring thunder. 'Is my sin that of living!?' the woman yelled, throwing her crutch away. No answer resounded this time, as if the answer was obvious.
Miriallia fell to her knees, hands laid out and eyes open to the sky. She cried for a few minutes and the stars hid themselves behind clouds. Forsaken by Our mother for...the sin of living...and...
She daren't pronounce the words herself, as if it would confirm her madness and sins. 'Murder', her mind whispered to her ear. The darkness mounted in her heart and mind that day, seeping its venom into her veins. The parasite poisoned her blood, her mind and most importantly, her heart.
