Chapter 2: Choices

A trainee demon buster ran up a two strange forms on the ground. He bent over and called his Angel he lovingly named Angeel towards him. 'What do you make of this, Angeel? Someone drop some crappy things they got from plasmas?', the trainee giggled to his demon. 'Morgan...those are...bodies...', Angeel pulled her master away fearfully, not wanting his young eyes to see such a horror. 'Oh God...It...it can't be...what happened here? None of the demons here are even strong enough to do that', Morgan answered fearfully. The two trainees bent over the two mangled bodies. 'Isn't there anything we can do for them?', he asked while turning to Angeel. 'Let's go find some more experienced DBs...My experience isn't sufficient to resurrect and nurse them back to health...', she replied. The two of them ran away quickly, yelling for help in every direction.

Hours later, help arrived under form of an entire party of neutral players with high curative skills. The whole group concentrated on bringing what they believed was the demon buster of the two back to life...The demon buster rose back to life but clinged to her demon. She screamed and cried over him as the party attempted to bring him back but no avail. He was far beyond their control now. The party was constraint to call up for a group of swordsmen that were passing by. The two parties and their demons ripped away the Demon Buster from her demon. She wailed and cried and the entire gang felt as though they were sectioning the most important bond in history. Feeling the importance of that demon, Angeel and Morgan carried Oku to Shinjuku Babel. In several mangled pieces.

Mir got up from bed for the first time months later, her wounds having been of the most crucial. 'Oku?', she attempted, seeing a tall male figure approach. 'I'm sorry...it's just me...Morgan', the figure replied. Nostalgic, Mir cried herself back to sleep at the loss of her only friend. Oku was the only demon contracted to her she had never killed after a while. 'We haven't been able to bring him back to life yet...', he whispered to himself. Mir's eyes tightened and tried to hate the young demon buster but was unable to. He had just tried to hard and had pushed himself way too far. I have to do something...Oku just can't be...gone. When she finished sulking she got up with difficulty, to Morgans suprise and pushed open the door. A group was in the room she had just entered. Seemingly happy demon busters showed off their new companions while others (obviously weaker) acclaimed them. All were orned in ordinary clothes or in typical neutral alignment clothing. 'Where is Oku you bastards?' she asked cruelly to the group that had saved her. They turned their heads in surprise at the seasoned demon buster that was in no shape to insult them. Absolute silence reigned in the room. Not demon nor human moved an inch, knowing it might set off the wounded demon buster.

Ten minutes later

The silence was finally ruptured by the sound of a door sliding open. A man with a tattered cape and a giant sword entered the room. 'Oh, you're up', he said with a smile. A Morrigan followed very close behind him. 'I'm Kamren. Are you feeling any better?', he asked, emotionless. 'Are you the one who brought me back?', Mir asked rudely without even answering the mans question. 'Yes but its the others that sustained you', he answered on a far different tone this time. His tone wasn't riddled with violence but of...power and a singe of arrogance. Mir remained unimpressed by him and demanded her gun from Morgan. 'Fight me, Kamren' she spat at him angrily after the trainee handed Mir her gun. She raised the arm and aimed for Kamrens head. His demon stood poised for battle. Kamren raised his blade swiftly as Mir fired a first round that rang out through the entire building. The group of demon busters that were sitting and idly discussing stood up and were ready to all take action against either party. Mir shot another round at the demon buster she now knew could overpower her at any moment. Her opponent simply let the rounds lodge themselves in his blade. I'm in way over my head with this ******...He brought me back and not Oku... 'Kamren...how did you bring me back anyway? I've seen Oku's body in my dreams...far beyond recognition. So how...?' a now more submissive Miriallia asked. 'I used a demon resurrect spell I acquired somewhat by accident', the man answered while lowering his great sword. 'So why not Oku too then!?' she bellowed at him. 'How dare you only save me!?'

- Will you calm down? I simply ran out of energy, that's why I'm back. To bring him back to life.
- Please do so then...

The young but experienced demon buster said. 'Only after you explain to me why a demon-only resurrect spell worked on you', the other hunter snapped. Miriallia backed up, feeling suddenly cornered. She opened her mouth to protest but no sound came out.
- Find me when you're ready to have your friend come back, then. I'll let you live alone and dead to this world until then.
'What makes you think you can just walk outta here after promising to bring him back!?', the girl yelled back at him.
- As long as I am one of the most powerful demon busters out there and being one of the only ones with this spell you can use at any stage of death, I'll permit myself that arrogance.
The girl launched herself at him suddenly, but he dropped his blade and tackled her at the right moment, sending her to fall against the ground with him on top of her.
- I'll be on top of you no matter what you do. You'll never be strong enough to do whatever you want. Give me the information I want and I'll give you your friend and with him, most likely your freedom as well.
With that, he walked out of the room with the group of DBs and left Miriallia as alone as she always was. Even though he had disappeared his voice added in her mind; 'You either tell me what you are or you become strong enough to beat me in a duel without demons. I'll be at Souhonzan waiting.'
