Chapter 4: Four lives

''Watch out!'', the spear-man shouted just in time. Jykouten's sword slashed where Ever had been milliseconds earlier. She had barely gotten away because of the slowness that her patrice de westwood forced her into. She pulsed herself and Kamren and thew herself into the fray. Even with her slowness she managed to get a nice amount of hits in. Kamren looked over his shoulder to watch the enhancer, having finished off all of his opponents. He watched her struggle a bit, pausing before hitting but not because of her enemies but because she struggled with her new self. Two glimmers lay no longer dormant in the woman's blood red eyes. The violence and vice in those eyes could have killed with a simple look if only looks could kill. She lashed out at her enemies with a surprising and concerning efficiency. Only one or two were left but she exterminated them quickly. She exhaled once as if releasing all the pressure built up inside her. She turned towards Kamren, the same glimmer in those eyes. She stood poised before her, ready to attack.

''Surely she wouldn't...'', Kamren told himself. But oh, she did, she dared. ''Fight me, Kamren', she mumbled to him quietly. Her tone became suddenly very eerie as she advanced. 'It eats my insides to see you living so...normally', the enhancer said, spitting the last word.

She enhanced herself and launched herself at him. With a grimace, he raised his spear to block her attacks, obviously not wanting to accidentally silence her. 'Bring him back or else I'll!...', she shouted but her mind finished the phrase. 'I'll let myself die. I'll murder myself', her mind shouted. He could almost hear her snap mentally and go crazy. He watched her eyes glaze over and her face relax. Had she reached her limit so quickly because of her wounds? No, surely not. She wouldn't let herself be put down so simply. Her step was suddenly rushed and precise as she moved towards him. 'I'm a...murderer', the girl said. This time, Kamren heard the mental snap he had been expecting. It was in her voice, in her way of moving. Hell, it was her all-together. ''You didn't murder Oku'', the spear-man said, wanting to convince her but failing. 'Do you know what I am, Kamren?', she asked while moving towards him in blurred zigzags. He clenched his teeth. 'In those categories, I mean'', the girl said with a bleak look in her eyes. The spear-man didn't dare move, as if movement might set her off. 'Between Gods, demons and the damned...I'm nothing', she shouted, her voice breaking off with madness at the end. 'I don't even exist! Just a simple malfunction in the way of the world, a simple mistake', she continued. 'I am the great destruction! I set it off, do you understand!? I was here even before those damned teleporters! Your world was damned as soon as I set foot here', Evermore snickered. He stood emotionless before her as he processed the information with an agonizing slowness. She guessed that he was pondering about what she was and by the look in his eyes, she thought correctly. ''I don't know what to do, Kamren, help me...', she suddenly let out eerily. ''This isn't who...no...this isn't what I am. It doesn't feel natural. Help me Kamren''. He backed away, eyes wild; ''help me'' resonating in his mind, slowly eating it away. ''It hurts Kamren! Help me...Why won't you save me...?'' she asked, her hand seeking him out desperately. It was her voice that said is quietly, whispering lies to his ear. But there was another voice, a female one from his past that haunted him with the same phrase. ''How will we ever append for our sins?'', the female demon-buster said, bleak eyed once more. The question wasn't a real one but it wasn't a statement either. It was a deep, hidden part of Evermore that was mocking the both of them.

~What would I do for you?
What would I do? For you
